I created a YouTube channel based off my sons viewing habits
tl;dr: Discover how MoMike gained 1.2M YouTube subscribers in 30 days using creative Shorts strategies. Learn how I adapted his tactic with my own twist for potential growth.

During one of my many YouTube scrolling sessions, I decided to search for some content around YouTube Shorts strategies, As you can imagine, more were nonsense like “I made $254345 in 30 days from this one trick” and the one trick is to buy their course.
Yawn
However, there was one that caught my eye, and I managed to get recommended it within hours of it being posted.
In this video, “MoMike” went from 0 to over 1.2 million subscribers along with full monetisation and two play buttons…in 30 days.
The Concept
His concept was very simple, he would make engaging shorts using a Slush Cup where he would simply open multiple bottles of Prime and slush them. This however wasn’t the main hook.
During the length of the video he would overlay a fake AI conversation that essentially told the viewer that if they subscribed to his channel they could win a free Slush Cup, As he was one of the first people to pick up on this he saw significant growth as soon as he started using this tactic (you can watch his video above to see the whole breakdown).
My Plan
I was hooked by this concept. It seemed pretty sound in principle and I had been practicing content consistency prior to having this idea so I knew that if I made the content and I stayed consistent, I could potentially see the same level of growth!
So I bought a Slush Cup! I also told my son and my fiancee about this and my son would go on to serve as the creative mind behind some of the videos.
The Difference
“MoMike”, by the looks of it, is a young guy and its unlikely he has kids, at least not kids that would be watching the kind of content that he is putting it. I’ve seen my son ingesting this kind of content which for the most part is harmless fun although there is a trend around Fortnite skin giveaways that are just outright scams to get views and engagement.
Even though “MoMike” ended up giving away over $1000 of Slush Cups, I still felt like the millions of people who didn’t get a Slush Cup would feel betrayed by this tactic, a tactic that ended up netting the creator a good chunk of money.
I decided to put myself in the shoes of my son and think what he would want.
So, I decided (as of todays video) to hide 4 digits of a 1000 V-Bucks code card in each video. 1000 V-Bucks costs around £6.99 but holds a lot of value my children the same age as my son so to think that after I publish all 16 digits there will be some person out there who will enter the code into their console and get the V-Bucks, makes me feel very happy.
Moving Forwards
I’m enjoying the consistency behind the content creation, I believe it’s forcing me into some good habits, habits that hopefully will allow me to be a little more financially free.
Filming the videos has become a quick lunch time task now, with filming taking a swift 3 minutes and editing in the evening clocking in around 18 minutes for the full short so it’s not becoming a burden and I’m sure I’ll actually get more streamlined in creating the videos.
I’ve only posted one V-Buck video as of writing this, in fact, here it is, and it’s ranked 1 of 6 on my channel for views currently. I’m really interested to see if this 4 video test of giving away the code will result in some decent channel growth, the only way to tell is by staying consistent, so thats what I’ll do.
